Thelma Blake, an accomplished artist, native Virginian, and teacher, holds a Post-Graduate License from the Commonwealth of Virginia. Blake’s travels around the continental United States has allowed her to obtain degrees from Central Florida, AA, the University of Texas, BA, and Tusculum College in Tennessee, MAEd. Her interest in art began at an early age and she has freely explored this interest through her life.
Her works include both 2- and 3-dimensional pieces. through realism, surrealism, and abstraction; she employs creative techniques and altered images to produce a visually unique personal expression. Her work leaves a lasting impact on the viewers as she embodies conventional subjects in a kind of surreal fantasy which literally changes their focus and importance.
Blake has worked 3 dimensionally in cire perdu, bronze, aluminum, stone and wood. Two-dimensionally, she has excelled in printmaking, drawing, and painting in oils, watercolors and acrylics.
Blake’s work can be found in many public and private collections across the U.S. and Europe. Her works have been recognized in many national and international shows.
