Charles Hardy has shown his work through the U.S. and Japan. His works are part of permanent collections at the Western Colorado Center for the Arts, Colorado State University, and the University of Arizona.
Charles studied art at Mesa State Junior College in 1965 then went to Colorado State University where he obtained his BA in painting. Charles then went to the University of Arizona where he received his Masters of Fine Art. While in Arizona he studied and mastered several different types of printmaking.
Professor Hardy began his teaching carrier at the University of Arizona. In 1979 He moved back to Colorado where he taught at Mesa State College, then in 1992 he went to Japan and taught at Yamagata Design School. Hardy returned to the US where he continued to teach at Mesa State for two years then he took a sabbatical that led him back to Japan. This time he went to Sendai Japan to work on his print making. Hardy also works in precious metals and paintings.
Hardy's prints are created in the same manner as the Renaissance artists such as Rembrandt and others treated their prints. He etches and engraves with the same type of tools and pulls his prints from the same kind of press that was used during the 14 hundreds.
