Virginia LaycockBorn in Ypsilanti Michigan in 1921 and as a child she learned from her parents the joy of achieving a thing of beauty using her hands. They taught her art, music, needle crafts and woodworking. Her first prize came at age 9, winning a coloring contest given by the Detroit Free Press - a book “Tom Sawyer.” After her fifth child left the nest she taught stained glass at Winslow Arizona Community College for ten years. She retired to Ouray and was commissioned to design and construct the stained glass windows for the Episcopal Church with naturism beauty as the theme. Her time is not devoted to kaleidoscopes alone.
