Jim BrockJim is a long term resident of Western Colorado who enjoys the varied scenes from its carved red rock architecture to its ever changing mesas and mountains. Jim received his formal art training at the University of Illinois where he studied architecture. He has practiced both architecture and engineering on an international scale, and is most recently at Mesa State College in Grand Junction where he serves on the faculty and as Director of Planning. Drawing
and painting have always been a part of Jim's life. Most of his work
has been accomplished for its meditative possibilities and, until recently,
has been collected by private individuals and institutions. Jim's
work is reflective of his continuing interest in contemplative art and
philosophy, as expressed in his images of the landscape of which he is
a part. His work explores nature's dualities, its change and often
serendipitous quality, as well as its inherent spiritual mystery.
