Amy Evans lives to paint the outdoors of Western North Carolina and the Colorado Rockies. She grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana, and now divides her time between North Carolina and Colorado.
Evans has a BA in fine arts from Rhodes College, Memphis. Formerly a weaver, she rediscovered her love of painting at the Denver Art Students League, where she had the good fortune of studying with Carl Dalio. Since those days, with gathering fascination she has pursued oil painting through periodic workshops with Fran Larsen, Anita Louis West, Teresa Vito, and L. Diane Johnson. In recent years, she had the extraordinary experience of regular drawing sessions with Scott Burdick and Susan Lyons, nationally acclaimed artists residing in King. In Clemmons, NC, Evans aided with the founding of the Piedmont Outdoor Painters Society (thanks in large part to her love of plein air, or on-site, painting). This is a group that treks through the scenic regions throughout the Triad to paint in pairs or groups. Not only did Evans gain insightful results from working with other painters, but she also secured the company of these painters.
Evans work can be found in five galleries throughout North Carolina as well as in the National Invitational Miniature Show at Germanton Gallery in NC.
